Matt Carkner helped the Ottawa Senators avoid elimination in their first-round playoff series and deprived the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins of at least a few extra days of rest. Carkner scored at 7:06 of the third overtime to give the Senators a 4-3 victory over Pittsburgh on Thursday night, forcing a sixth game in the Eastern Conference series.
