Up until March 20, the Senators' best offensive defenseman had just one goal. Before Jan. 28, he had a grand total of eight points.

But now, Erik Karlsson is starting to assert himself more in the opposition's end. The results are showing on the score sheet.

Karlsson, a 19-year-old rookie, had his first three-point night while assisting on all of Ottawa's goals in Saturday's victory over the Panthers, Ottawa's fourth consecutive win. He now has one goal and five assists in the last four games.

Karlsson was robbed from picking up his third goal of the season Friday, when his shot toward the empty net from the edge of the crease was miraculously stopped by Sabres goalie Ryan Miller.
